New Draft Competency Frameworks

December 2012

Thursday, December 20th, 2012

Following a comprehensive review, the Board has developed new draft competency frameworks  and now invites written submissions and comments from the profession by 28 February 2013.

A number of changes have been made to simplify the language and eliminate duplication, in an effort to create a series of frameworks that are easier to read and comprehend.  One major proposed change is to the Graduate framework with the emphasis now on demonstrating progression to surveyor registration status.  Another related proposed change is the removal of the requirement to complete a Professional Assessment Project (PAP) to progress to Surveyor registration. A PAP will now only be required to obtain an endorsement be it Cadastral, Engineering or Mining.

While the draft mining frameworks have been completed by the Board, the mining frameworks have currently been sent to the Chief Inspector of Mines and Advisory Committees for their review and comment.  The draft mining frameworks will be released early in 2013.

Please take this opportunity to review the draft frameworks and offer your comments to the Board. A special email address has been created to receive comments on the draft frameworks at cf@sbq.com.au
