Emeritus Registration
In accordance with policy criteria, The Surveyors Board of Queensland can grant “Emeritus” status to Registered Surveyors retiring from practice who have made a significant contribution to the surveying profession. The person may call themselves an “Emeritus Surveyor”. The status does not enable the Emeritus Surveyor to undertake any survey work or lodge plans.
The aim of granting the Emeritus status is the recognition of the recipient’s service to the profession. Applicants who do not meet the policy criteria and wish to maintain links with the profession should consider membership of a professional body.
The Board policy is:
To be registered as an Emeritus Surveyor the applicant will need to satisfy the Board on the following criteria:
- That the Surveyor is currently registered with the Board and has been on the Register for a minimum of twenty-five (25) consecutive years, or a period determined by the Board;
- That the Surveyor has retired from surveying practice, and provided the Board with a written and signed statement that “they have retired from surveying practice“;
- That the Surveyor has honourably discharged their professional duty. A Curriculum Vitae (C.V.) is required to accompany the application.
In the case of Surveyors with a Cadastral endorsement:
They should ensure that they have provided the Board with an authorisation for another cadastral surveyor – should any lodged plans require amendment(s) in the future.
The Board may request further information from the applicant, to enable it to consider the application.
Note: In the case of Surveyors without a Cadastral Endorsement, but holding another endorsement rather than twenty-five (25) consecutive years of registration, they will be required to show that they have been continuously registered since 2003.
